Vardan Gabrielyan

Born in Yerevan in 1956, Vardan Gabrielyan is a leading contemporary abstract painter who is best known for bringing versatile and innovative forms to abstract art.

He has been collected by prestigious art institutions since the 1990’s, including the Zimmerli Art Museum in New Jersey, the state National Gallery of Armenia, the Modern Art Museum in Armenia, the Museum of Mkhitarian Congregation in Venice, the Yerevan City History Museum in Armenia and the Museum of Shushi in Artsakh.

The word exploration sums up the nature of his quest: He used to work in the manner of Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism, and Cubism before recently turning to Surrealism and various modes of abstraction, including Abstract Expressionism. Since 1985, he has been exhibiting widely in Yerevan, Moscow, Helsinki, Basel, New Jersey, Tehran, Florence, Dubai, Kuwait, Oldenburg, Paris and Venice, where he was collected by numerous private are collectors.
