Ara Bekaryan (1913- 1986)

1913 – Born in Karahissar (Western Armenia).
1932 – Graduated from the artistic-industrial college, Yerevan.
Studied under the direction of two distinguished artists Vahram Gayfejian and Sedrak Arakelyan.
1939 – Graduated from the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.Repin, of the Art Academy, Leningrad ( Now, St. Petersburg).
Since 1945 – Honored Art Worker of Armenian SSR.
1945-1986 – Professor at the Institute of Fine Arts and Drama, Yerevan.
Since 1965 – People’s Artist of Arm. SSR.

In addition to his love of painting, he has illustrated several books as well
1986 – Died in Yerevan.

Ara Bekaryan’s works are kept in NGA (National Gallery of Armenia; in Yerevan), the Artistic Fund of Armenia, Funds of the Ministry of Culture for Armenia, State Tretyakov Art Gallery; Moscow, Russia, as well as numerous private art collections in Armenia and throughout the world.
